On June 3, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 122 illegal immigrants, 96 men and 26 women, to China, including individuals convicted of serious crimes such as murder, rape, drug trafficking, bribery and human smuggling.
The deportees, aged 19 to 68, had final removal orders and were transported via a charter flight as part of a Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-led national enforcement effort.
ICE emphasized that the removals align with its mission to detain and deport individuals violating immigration laws, particularly those with criminal records.
Immigration arrests have surged under the Trump administration, with ICE averaging 1,600 arrests daily; a recent raid in Los Angeles resulted in the arrest of 36 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals.
In response to escalating protests, President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 additional National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to Los Angeles; their duties are limited to protecting federal assets, as the Insurrection Act was not invoked.
