Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in their homes by a madman who apparently posed as a police officer — and who is still on the loose, according to reports.

Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman was shot in her Brooklyn Park home, while fellow party member Sen. Hortman - and perhaps Hoffman - recently broke with their party and voted with Republicans on a "MinnesotaCare for undocumented adults" bill. So it's likely they were targeted by leftists seeking revenge.

Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in their homes by a madman who apparently posed as a police officer — and who is still on the loose, according to reports.

Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman was shot in her Brooklyn Park home, while fellow party member Sen. John Hoffman was targeted roughly 8 miles away in Champlin, sources told 5 Eyewitness News.

A third victim was also shot, according to reports.

A manhunt is on for the suspect, who was wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants.

The violence began around 2 a.m. in John Hoffman’s home, BNO News reported.

He and an unidentified woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect then moved on to Melissa Hortman’s home, according to the outlet.  .  .

Minnesota Senator John Hoffman and State Rep. Melissa Hortman shot at their homes

June 14, 2025



Minnesota Senator John Hoffman and State Representative Melissa Hortman, along with their spouses, have been shot by a man dressed as a police officer who showed up at their homes in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, according to law enforcement sources. The suspect is still at large.

The first shooting happened just after 2 a.m. on Saturday at the Champlin home of State Senator John Hoffman, a Democrat who has served in the Minnesota Senate since 2013. Hoffman suffered at least two gunshot wounds while his wife Yvette was shot three times.

A second shooting happened a few miles south, near the Edinburgh Golf Course in Brooklyn Park, at the home of State Representative Melissa Hortman, who has served in the House since 2005. She’s also the Democratic leader in the Minnesota House. Both Hortman and her husband Mark were shot.

There is currently no official word on the conditions of the victims, but ABC News reported that both lawmakers are in “grave condition.”

“Police are looking for a suspect in multiple targeted shootings who is armed and dangerous,” Brooklyn Park Police said in an emergency alert sent to residents at 5:30 a.m. “Suspect is white male, brown hair, wearing black body armor over blue shirt and blue pants and may misrepresent himself as law enforcement.”

A second emergency alert sent at 7 a.m. confirmed that the suspect is dressed like a police officer. “Do not approach and do not answer door unless two officers approach together.  .  .  .

The Bill cuts off 'Minnesotacare' for adult illegals, and it was tied to healthcare funding for all. While her vote may have made a difference, his did not (wider margin). Lots of crazies out there who may have had motive enough. **nononono*

Yes, it probably was, and the perpetrators are on Tampon's side if they were targeting her for voting with the Republicans on the immigrant healthcare bill. Apparently, Hoffman didn't cross the aisle, so he must have been overly courteous to a Republican to earn the murderous ire of the left.

I am interested in the part about how to defend (find out) if the "police officer" at the door is a real police officer. Mentioned was "wait until two" show up. Exactly how does that work. I know you only have to open to a search warrant, but still you have to open up to get the warrant.

Cops lie about warrants all the time. That and they often fail to read the address on the warrant. There are numerous cases in the past year where cops raided the wrong home.

The other problem is when they show up to serve the warrant they usually do so in an extremely violent manner. The victims of such raids never get a chance to see the warrant (if there is one) before doors are busted in, dogs are shot, and sometimes innocent people are shot too..
