7 most likely successors to Trump in 2028
by Caroline Vakil - 05/25/25 6:00 AM ET

While President Trump says it’s too soon to back a successor for his party’s 2028 presidential nod, the jockeying and tea-leaf reading has begun in the search for the next GOP leader.

The president himself suggested Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are possible contenders.

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., suggested this past week that he was keeping the door open to a possible run after his father leaves the White House, acknowledging “Maybe one day, you know, that calling is there.”

Some swing state governors have also made moves that stoked speculation of presidential ambitions this cycle.

Here are the seven most likely successors to Trump in 2028:

Might I add a "not no", but "hell no" to another Trump.

Just what has 50 years of Kennedy's, Clintons, and Bushes taught us?  No more political family dynasties.

I think the '28 race leaders are Vance, Rubio, and RDS.

The others the Shill discussed?

Youngkin.  Started great, trajectory has flattened the past few years.
Noem...  Will not get past her earlier Canine comments
Kemp...  '20 though not discussed much now, was a pretty frosty time between Trump and the GA Guv.  I just don't see DJT giving him any support.

OTOH, please realize that if things don't go well the next 3 1/2 years.....  throw these choices totally out the window.  If and when that happens, expect the bitch Nikki Haley to get a hard look.  But she sure as hell will never get my vote.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Both Houses of Congress are doing their level best to put a Dem in the White House in 2028.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Exactly.....

If I was forced to predict the course of the next 4 years.....

1. dims continue obstruction, and win narrowly win the House in the mid terms.  Trump agenda dies at that point.
2. '26- '28 becomes a quagmire, and MAGA fades, with relentless democratic attacks and sabotage on many fronts.   Trump becomes frustrated and starts flailing in a manner that becomes a PR disaster.
3. Enough Trump defections occur where party returns to ultra RINO ways.....   4 way primary race between Haley, Vance, RDS, and Rubio occur.  Enough 3-way  splintering of the right of center occurs, and Haley secures the nomination.
4. Dims come to their senses, and nominate Shapiro or another moderate Dim, and they beat Haley by 20-40 EV's November 2028.

A lot can change, but I can easily see this scenario setting

I'm not going to argue with your analysis.
