Move Over Karen, Here Comes Political ‘Matts’
Derek Hunter

There are few things more annoying than squishy, desperate for attention former so-called Republicans who insist they are the gatekeepers of what is and is not conservative. You know the types, the people who threw a big hissy fit about how “they didn’t leave the party, the party left them.” The most noise they ever made in their political lives was when they were “quitting the party,” which makes you wonder what they ever did for the cause of conservatism. The answer is nothing.

These people are the ex-boyfriends who got dumped, then spent the rest of their lives insisting they actually did the dumping, never really liked the girl, and have non-stop been calling every single guy she ever dated after him a loser. “I’m not obsessed, you’re obsessed!”

These people have always been around – the David Brocks and Arianna Huffingtons of the world who insist they just couldn’t be among the “hatemongers” anymore…after the checks dried up.

That’s one thing people on the right who were never taken seriously, were never that smart or interesting, and never really accomplished anything other than a few TV hits when anyone worth listening to was busy have going for them is they can always pull the ripcord and become leftists. Once they do that, the MSNBC and CNN hits come rolling in, maybe even a book deal. It won’t sell because you’re a human prop trying to sell to people who are using you as one something they have no interest in. But a book advance is a book advance.

I ain't leaving the party.

You don't make something better by abandoning it.

Nothing worth having and worth keeping is easy.

I suspect many of the Matts are soft-handed, college-educated dilettants ... you know, 'college boys'.

Sure, I feel the party has left me, but I believe the party will return to me like a prodigal son who indulged in wine, women, and song.

When the ship starts going down, and the rats are jumping ship, the party will need some crusty old steel-toed @$s kickers to put things right.

In the meantime, I'll contribute to the rebuilding of the Massachusetts State Republican Party.  We've recently won a couple of state legislature seats from Dems during special elections.

The Lincoln Project folks are mainly Bush '43 flunkies who talked the 'conservative' talk but did not walk the 'conservative' walk.  Conservatives don't expand Government and do not start Undelcared wars.

The danger of the 'imperial presidency' is "What happens when the other side has the Oval Office?"

GOP Congress needs to get off its vapid, cowardly rump and start accomplishing 'conservative' objectives.
