The Jackie Robinson thing
« on: April 15, 2025, 08:45:48 pm »
Ok so my hubby gets to watch his Pirates today because they’re playing the local Nats.

I see the majorly nasty pitch hitting the Nats batter, and finally he walks into the dugout and lockers, and I see his 42.  My first statement…”I thought they retired….”

Then as my hubby mentions oh it’s Robinson day.

Sigh.  Soooo sick of this.  So I check out Reddit and sure enough, tons of threads relating to Robinson day and all the doings…and a whole thread griping about how too many are complaining (funny, because all those posts are gone, as usual, an echo chamber), and how America is so horrible and racist and all you Trump supporters are racist still just like Trump, etc.

Long ago I said this is ridiculous.  I’m sorry, but even the retiring this number for everyone is asinine.  Then, we have to make a huge deal out of it, and a thread there whining that nothing more was mentioned except when he came in, etc.  the usual libel and false witness ensues.

We keep bowing to anything to make America the great bogeyman, the evil empire…yet they’re still here.

These people actually also state they hate America.  That is Dems, they are comm7nists who hate America, and celebrate anything to keep that notion going.

What does anyone else think about this?  Is this ridiculous self-flagellation In celebrating a man of decent career just because LONG AGO he had to “break the barrier”?

You can’t post on Reddit baseball without being banned.  Again, have to stick to the few conservative fora there ever are.

I have no problem with "Jackie Robinson Day".

For those of us still alive...we can fully understand the significance of the Negro athlete entering the MLB.

Let me remind you that the Negro had their own drinking fountains and were only allowed to sit in the rear of the bus....so yes, the USA has come a long way in 75 years.

But this country has culturally gone to sh_t since Barack Hussein Obama became POTUS.  He IS the anti Christ.

In terms of "events", September 11th 2001 was kindergarten.

I have a big problem, when they make such a big deal out of it.  From not allowing 42 anymore, to forcing it be honored on even 1 day.  It is far overreaction.  The purpose is to keep rubbing it in the faces of us all, and make us “remember” how awful America is.  Hell, they don’t celebrate any progress.  They continue hating on the US.  And yes, what I read on Reddit tonite…that is largely about YOU and calling YOU racist and cruel and evil, and then banning any comment that doesn’t bow low and all hail to this spectacle.  Yes, I mean it.  Fora are full of haters, if Amarica, and they say so and they say it is because of YOU, you hating MAGA Republican white dude!

I’m tired of playing this placating game in every single possible instance, when no credit is given for it.  You still get crapped on.

Besides, in truth, it just is not worth it, especially 70 years later.  Get over it!

Here’s the sample of what this is about…read the comments of “regular Joe”.  These are the haters who pillory us constantly.
