“IT’S TIME FOR A DOGE, CONNECTICUT”

On Friday afternoon, The Post & Email received an unsolicited newsletter from the office of Connecticut State Representative Joseph Canino (R-CT65, Torrington) calling for a state-level “DOGE” modeled on that of the second Trump administration spearheaded by entrepreneur Elon Musk to investigate “blatant corruption from Connecticut Democrats and other state agencies.”

First elected to the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA) on November 5, 2024, Canino, 27, a former Senate Republican press secretary and Georgetown University graduate, won the seat over incumbent Democrat Michelle Cook, who had held the seat continuously since January 2009.

Connecticut is often referred to as the “Constitution State” as a result of the legislature’s passage of a 1959 resolution awarding it the name.

The newsletter reads, in its entirety:

CT State Rep Canino Calls for Statewide ‘DOGE’

(CONNECTICUT) — On Thursday, State Representative Joe Canino of Torrington, Connecticut officially called for a statewide ‘DOGE’ in a post on X, cracking down on blatant corruption from Connecticut Democrats and other state agencies. Canino, who joined House and Senate Republican leadership for a press conference on government accountability, became the first elected Republican in the state to demand a ‘DOGE’, which he seeks to begin with more government oversight through the Office of the Inspector General.
