Gavin Newsom drops a huge nuke on his OWN party as he outlines grand plan to bring Democrats back

Gavin Newsom said that the Democrat brand is 'toxic' and they're not going to fix it by refusing to talk to Republicans and protesting.

The California governor has been attempting to reach out to conservatives of late, interviewing the likes of Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon for his podcast, 'This is Gavin Newsom.'

Speaking to Bill Maher on Friday, the host praised him for trying to have conversations with Republicans but Newsom said it was part of his plan to bring the party back from dead.

Maher quoted Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman in saying 'if we don't get our s*** together, we'll be a permanent minority' and Newsom agreed.

'These guys are crushing us, the Democratic brand is toxic right now,' he said of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

Newsom admitted that some of his guests were 'controversial' but 'this idea that we can't even have a conversation with the other side?'

'They won!' Maher snapped back, before Newsom highlighted how 'toxic' the Democrat brand is, citing polls showing the party's favorability in the low 20s.

'What this podcast and having the opportunity to dialogue with people I disagree with, it's an opportunity to try to find common ground and not take cheap shots,' he said.
