Macron Calls on EU to Ditch American Weapons as Europe’s Boycott US Movement Grows
by Robert Semonsen Mar. 17, 2025 10:30 am

In yet another indication of the growing rift between the US and France, Emmanuel Macron, France’s exceedingly unpopular lame-duck president and arguably Europe’s most prominent globalist head of state, has urged EU countries to halt their purchase of American-made weapons and defense equipment in favor of European alternatives.

Macron’s statement came a day before left-globalist French MEP Raphaël Glucksmann launched an unhinged attack on the US, demanding that it return the Statue of Liberty and arguing that the country has failed to appreciate the monument or its significance.

A longtime advocate of direct defense spending toward products made in the European Union, Macron, during an interview over the weekend with several legacy French publications, including Le Parisien, expressed his desire to persuade EU member states who’ve become accustomed to buying US military hardware to switch to continental options.

“My intention is to go and convince European states that have become accustomed to buying American. Those who buy Patriot should be offered the new-generation Franco-Italian SAMP/T. Those who buy the F-35 should be offered the Rafale. That’s the way to increase the rate of production,” Macron said.

France Demands America: ‘Give Us Back the Statue of Liberty!’
France should take back the Statue of Liberty because the US no longer represents the values that led France to offer the statue, a French Euro-deputy said Sunday.

"Give us back the Statue of Liberty", centre-left politician Raphael Glucksmann said at a convention of his Place Publique centre-left movement.

"We're going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: 'Give us back the Statue of Liberty,'" he told cheering supporters.

"'We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home,'" he added.

We need more Marquis de Lafayette's and less Macron de morons.

It would be shame for the FAA to de-certify Airbus planes, ban direct flights to EU countries, and add a surcharge to flight intineraries destined for Europe.

Europe needs us more than we need them.  Europe doesn't have 3,000 miles of Atlantic Ocean to buffer them from marauding Krauts, Ruskies, and Islamic Caliphates.

European elites like to think themselves more cultured and civilized than beastly Americans, but, they have proven that they are not capable of maintaining peace, prosperity, and security on their own continent.

The US disabling of F-16 aircraft that had been provided to Ukraine from NATO countries (and not the US) poses a security question for the Europeans.

Frankly, if Trump is willing to trade away Ukrainian sovereignty to avoid war with Russia then what else will he trade away? And will America disable European-owned weapons platforms if it suits us?

America would not tolerate this situation. Imagine if France could effectively shut down our defense systems and sell us out to a foreign power? How would we feel about it?

That said, the Europeans are correct in their decision to build their own defense systems.

And America is correct in building our own as well.

France and Germany sold out US and compromised NATO when they let their economies become dependent on Russian natural gas.

F-16's are subject to export restrictions.  NATO countries should not be conduits for American technology transfer to Ukraine and Russia.

NATO countries were allowed to purchase F-16's for defense of NATO, not defense of former Soviet Republics from Putin.

Ukraine is not a member of NATO.

If Biden wanted Ukraine to establish air supremacy or air parity with Putin, he should have allowed NATO countries to send their Soviet-era fighter planes to Ukraine.

If Europe wants to go for it without the United Sates, we should make sure European countries have re-paid all debts to America.  It was European indebtedness to America that helped draw us into World War I, World War II, and the Cold War.

Your terms are accepted.

You can start by sending back EVERYTHING we have supplied you with, to the present.

That goes for the rest of Western Europe as well.

Eastern Europe is excepted from these terms.

Nice try on a clever play, except Trump isn't walking away, Macron is. This is all on them. Should we go to war with them to stop it?

Yes, threatening. Macron IS walking away.

Macron is putting the interests and secuity of France first. I don't like the Oedipal socialist but I can't fault him in this. I know when I buy a weapon I don't want to ask someone else's permission when I need to use it.

I thought this was about Ukrainian sovereignty and not self-interest?

Ukraine will still have to get permission to fire EU weapons.

The F-16 aircraft purchased by Denmark, Netherlands, and etc. and then transferred to Ukraine were disabled by the US.

The EU does not have a military and as of now it has no control over any weapons.

On topic: new cars in the USA will be subject to remote control and remote disablement by Federal, state, and local law enforcement.

So anyone laughing at the situation with the F-16 will soon enough get to experience it first hand.

Let the French do what they do ... lose, surrender, and sucker other nations into shedding blood and treasury on their behalf.

France's bark is bigger than its bite.

So why then are they trying to make deals they have no capability of fulfilling?
