Finally! Watch the US Navy's Laser Weapon in Action. The newest addition to the US military arsenal: HELIOS laser weapons. Although each military branch has been experimenting with laser weapons for years, the Navy finally unveiled the first operational laser weapon. Known as the HELIOS, this laser is installed on a Navy destroyer and recently carried out its first publicized live-fire demonstration. This huge milestone represents more than 20 years of laser weapon development across the Department of Defense.
