OMG! A ship, in salt water, with rust on it! Unheard of!

Yep, when I lived in the UK it was during the Falklands war.
The news broadcast the videos of all those shiny ships going out to sea and fight the war, with all the British navy looking spit and polished on decks in the sun.
After all those months at sea and fighting a war, the news showed those ships coming back into the harbor, all rusted out, with the sailors looking grim and tired.
Made a big impression on me that shiny ships mean that the sailors are simply making it look good, and it is simply for photops during times of peace, whereas rusty ships means action occurring and no one has the time for photops.
