On February 12, Washington, D.C., federal Judge James Boasberg ordered the Trump administration to stop deleting videos of the January 6 riot from government websites.
A press coalition that included ABC News, the Associated Press, CBS News, The New York Times and The Washington Post had sued to stop the Trump administration from deleting any more January 6 videos or court records.
In a written ruling, Boasberg said that the Trump administration should stop deleting videos, identify any other videos that have been deleted and give an explanation for their deletion.
Boasberg, an Obama appointee, accepted the media coalition's claims that the videos had been removed from USA File Exchange, otherwise known as USAfx, where they could be downloaded by media groups.

Boasberg has given Trump administration lawyers until February 26 to give the court a list of all deleted videos and an explanation for their deletion.
If the lawyers do not comply, the government could be found in contempt of court and could face fines.
