This is the note Politico sent out after it was revealed that they take millions of taxpayer dollars every year. This section reads to me like
a threat that they’re going to write hit pieces about DOGE for taking their $$ away:
"Here is the most important point for our newsroom and subscribers alike. We believe the work of a new administration —and the work being done by DOGE — is a hugely important story. In particular because of the ambition of the new administration to transform large sections of the government, our responsibility to cover this from every angle is URGENT."
Here’s what Politico bosses miss: Taxpayers don’t care if a grant funded the millions they received or if it was a subscription setup by some crazy lady in HR at the Treasury office… They still took our money and it’s wasteful. DOGE taking that money away seems like a strong motivator to attack this administration for taking it away. Any negative story from them going forward has to be seen through this lens.
