Well, having known several of these Green Berets in the National Guard and Reserves, let me say that they are generally well trained and very professional, having put in their time in the Regular Army on active duty. But they got out, for one reason or another, usually growing sick and tired of the Army's dysfunction and bureaucratic BS, and then entered the Guard or Reserves as a much better life/job/family balance. And even then there are issues. So to suggest that these National Guardsmen are somewhat less than regular duty active service troops is simply not true.
