We have more people, more infrastructure, more everything, including more science, so guys like this can whip up frenzy and hysteria.
They are the leaders of a segment of the population that has grown quite large and look to people to create a risk-averse society. It is impossible by its very nature since nature itself is not risk-averse. Yet this ilk that preaches this hysteria has sold the idea they can control it by their so-called “science” and that appeals to those who wish to skate through life without risk.
