The media will have a field day with this insanity.

We do not need Greenland for our security.  We have troops in 140 countries supposedly for our security and to protect our nation's interests.

We have miserably poor caretakers of the present land held by the USA, like Wrecking Ball Joe, the present dead from the neck up POTUS that was NEVER mentally qualified to be POTUS DAY ONE in January, 2021, and the Congress that abdicated their responsibility to insure this country has someone mentally fit to be the leader, which Biden and Harris are not!!!

It would be nice if he could concentrate [Trump] on passing just one piece of legislation through both houses of Congress.  I am not holding my breath for that to happen in 2025!

We actually do, since there is a quiet battle going on for control of the Arctic Ocean and what lies beneath of it.  China is trying to negotiate a base of its own there, as well as "buy" the Panama Canal, which is what has Trump irked.  But I wish he would engage in some actual statesmanship and when he enters office again, actually NEGOTIATE a treaty with Denmark to either freeze out the ChiComs or acquire the territory for the U.S., and to renegotiate those existing treaties with Panama.

But no, his default mode is to bully and bluster and browbeat, and hope his target folds.

Denmark, as well as the PM of Greenland would sing a different tune should Russia or China decide to occupy the world's largest island.  They would beg for the involvement of the USA then.

President-elect Donald Trump issued a Christmas message to the “wonderful soldiers of China” who are “illegally, operating the Panama Canal” and to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday.

“Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always making certain that the United States puts in Billions of Dollars in ‘repair’ money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about ‘anything,'” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump continued, saying, “Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World. Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and, who want the U.S. to be there, and we will.”

Trump previously threatened to retake the Panama Canal if Panama continues to “rip-off” the United States with “exorbitant” transit fees.

Trump has also previously trolled Trudeau and referred to him as “Governor Justin Trudeau” on several occasions.

As Breitbart News reported, during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago between Trump and Trudeau, Trump reportedly joked that if Trudeau did not like the idea of facing a 25 percent tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico, Canada could become the 51st state, with Trudeau serving as the governor to avoid the tariff.

...Like so much else Trump says, this comes with more than a grain of truth.

Since returning the Panama Canal to Panamanian control in 1999, we've been asleep at the switch. One of the reasons we gave it up, other than the feckless Jimmy Carter and our unreasonable desire to be liked and admired by people who will always hate us, was that US aircraft carriers and supertankers could not negotiate that waterway. When that treaty was negotiated and ratified, no one was concerned about global supply chains or China buying the Panamanian government. The Carter-Torjillos Treaty cut the US out of any voice in managing the Canal, and, as we're seeing, that may have been a blunder.

The Arctic region has become of strategic interest to China. Ice-breaker technology has made transiting it feasible, and surveys indicate the Arctic sea floor may be rich in minerals. Greenland is not defensible by Denmark militarily or diplomatically as China is actively buying its way into a position of power inside Denmark's government and economy. An outright purchase or some sort of condominium with Denmark would make a lot of sense...
