Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) decimated the former Republican governor of Massachusetts and current NCAA President Charlie Baker during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on sports gambling. Several GOP lawmakers took the opportunity to address the inclusion of transgender athletes in female sports.
“A transgender woman is a biological male,” Kennedy stated. “And a biological male is always going to have a physical . . . advantage competing in a collegiate sport against a biological female. Isn’t that true?”
Baker agreed with Kennedy that transgender women are biological males and have an advantage “every time competing with a biological female.” Over 600 female athletes have lost over 800 medals to transgender females, while almost no biological male athlete has lost to a transgender male.
Kennedy asks Baker why they have not done more to allow fairness in women’s sports by banning transgender females from women’s sports. “…your job is to promote fairness in collegiate sports, why do you support allowing transgender women, who are biological males, to compete against non-transgender biological females?” Senator Kennedy asked.
