If it wasn't for the poor innocents caught in the middle, I'd say just nuke the place.

It's hard not to agree. Our church supports a mission school somewhere in Haiti that provides some of the innocent children the only chance they'll  have for adequate daily nutrition, let alone an education. Members of the church have made several visits to Haiti over the years to deliver funds, put in wells, help with construction, and other tasks.

Clearly Haiti stripped all the trees, right up to the border of DR.  It makes it a lot easier for the DR to repel invaders.  Meanwhile, the UN wrings their hands over the environmental damage, never coming to the conclusion that extreme poverty leads to it.

A confidential email within the agency, which was disclosed to The Post, highlighted the improbability of repatriating Haitians who arrive in Florida by sea due to the precarious situation in their homeland.

Furthermore, the communication cautioned that the arrival of a single migrant vessel could exceed the operational capacity of the agency in the region.

US will contribute $300 million to Haiti’s multinational security mission

The United States will contribute $300 million to the Kenyan-led multinational security mission to Haiti, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday, as the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate.

“I’m announcing today that the United States Department of Defense is doubling its approved support for the mission from $100 million to $200 million. And that brings the total US support to $300 million for this effort,” Blinken said at the conclusion of a meeting of Caribbean states (CARICOM) in the Jamaican capital of Kingston.

It remains unclear when the security mission will be deployed. Kenya’s Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki said earlier Monday that Kenyan troops are currently in the “pre-deployment” stage.  ...

The United Nations human rights chief said Monday that 184 people were killed over the weekend in the Haitian capital, as Port-au-Prince was rocked by a spike in gang violence that pushed the death toll from Haiti's spiraling security crisis to at least 5,000.

"Just this past weekend, at least 184 people were killed in violence orchestrated by the leader of a powerful gang in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, in the Cite Soleil area," Volker Turk told reporters in Geneva. "These latest killings bring the death toll just this year in Haiti to a staggering 5,000 people."

Volker appeared to be referring to a reported massacre carried out by a gang leader in the impoverished Cite Soleil neighborhood who targeted elderly people he suspected of sickening his own child by witchcraft.

The Reuters news agency quoted the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH) as saying on Sunday that Monel "Mikano" Felix, leader of the Wharf Jeremie gang, had ordered the murders in Cite Soleil, and that all the victims of the attack were over 60 years old. ...
