Bizarre reason why McDonald's worker might not receive $60,000 reward for identifying Luigi Mangione

The McDonald's restaurant employee who helped police trace a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare's CEO could be shortchanged out of the hefty $60,000 reward.

Brian Thompson, 50, was gunned down in New York last week in an apparent targeted attack.

He was shot in the back on Wednesday (December 4) outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan, where the medical insurance company he ran, UnitedHealthcare, was holding an investors' meeting.

A 26-year-old man has since been charged with murder of Thompson.

Luigi Mangione was taken into custody at a McDonald's restaurant in the town of Altoona, Pennsylvania on Monday (December 9), after an employee reportedly alerted police.

Not Surprised at all. Working for a global aerospace company. The company offered a $5000 referral fee when an employee recruited an applicant and the applicant was hired. Turns out it was a kind of trick.

A buddy of mine did it. He referred someone and they were actually hired. But, the company did not pay. Just like the article, it turns out that there were many bureaucratic levels, rules, and stipulations, before anyone actually gets the money. I left the company six months after and the guy still had not been paid. I do not know if he ever got the money. Did not want to ask him but I doubt it.

Glad I never bothered with it.

Not odd at all.  Not sure about other industries, but in oil we had to sign (annual) extensive waivers that what everything we did and created was basically the property of the company.

I imagine Mackey D's is no different.

Which means that all these federal offers of reward money we see on wanted posters at the Post Office are worthless.
