An international non-government organization (NGO) that served as a major catalyst for President Donald Trump‘s impeachment received over half of its funding from the United States Department of State.
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), comprised of journalists in six countries and co-founded by entrepreneur Drew Sullivan, received a whopping 52 percent of the funds from the U.S. federal government.
It also appears that the U.S. taxpayer-funded the OCCRP’s investigation into former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s political work in Ukraine.
The activities were cited several times in the whistleblower letter that sparked Trump’s first impeachment in 2019.
