President-elect Trump on Saturday nominated Florida sheriff Chad Chronister as administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

"For over 32 years, Sheriff Chad Chronister has served the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE," Trump wrote in his announcement moments before he nominated Kash Patel to replace Christopher Wray as FBI director.

"A proud graduate of the FBI National Academy's 260th Session, Chad is Co-Chairman of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Region IV Tampa Bay, Council Member of the Florida Attorney General’s Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, Chairman of the Criminal Justice Sub-Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Safety Coordinating Council, and Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Schools Citizen Oversight Committee," he continued.

Florida passed a law in 2023 on transporting and hiring illegal aliens. Hillsborough County Sherriff Chad Chronister said he would not enforce it.

While this guy may have done some stupid stuff during Covid, it remains that he's being nominated for DEA, so perhaps his record on drug enforcement should be the focus. I don't know - not expressing an opinion on his suitability one way or the other.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister has withdrawn from consideration to head President-elect Donald Trump‘s Drug Enforcement Administration.

In a statement, Chronister said Tuesday being nominated “the honor of a lifetime” but was stepping down after the “gravity of this very important responsibility set in.”

“Over the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I’ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration. There is more work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling,” he wrote in a statement. “I sincerely appreciate the nomination, outpouring of support by the American people, and look forward to continuing my service as Sheriff of Hillsborough County.”

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) voiced concerns over Chronister’s nomination, announced by Trump on Saturday, regarding his arrest of a pastor for defying COVID-19 lockdown orders.

Momentum against the Florida sheriff gradually built over the ensuing days despite strong showings of support from Florida Republicans including Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL).

This is good news. The guy is a Rat snake. Why Bondi wanted him is a mystery. Why not nominate Obama instead?

Chronister was leader of the COVID Gestapo in Florida, arresting pastors for holding church services and persecuting anyone who questioned any part of the COVID lie or anyone without a mask.

This guy is a fully indoctrinated, fully brainwashed, card carrying member of the fascist Leftist Power Machine.

His nomination makes me worry about where Pam Bondi really stands politically. She may be a 'leaning to the Left' AG wearing a MAGA costume.
