US weather map shows huge snow bomb bringing 46 inches in skin-numbing big freeze

Parts of the US were plunged into a deep freeze on Sunday as heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures marked the end of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Despite the Arctic-like conditions, snowmobilers and skiers are making the most of their winter wonderlands.
Weather forecasters also hinted at potential good news for the NFL game in Buffalo. The remote Tug Hill region of upstate New York, known for its lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario that can result in several feet of snow, saw up to 46 inches (117 centimeters) in the Barnes Corners area.
Local businessman Kevin Tyo spent much of Sunday digging out. "We just keep digging out," he said. "We were out all day yesterday, plowing."
Like many locals, he has a plow attached to his truck for much of the winter, along with a tractor with a bucket and a snowblower. His advice for those unaccustomed to such weather? "If you're not used to it, stay home. If you're out, slow down."
