Pentagon issues Federal Directive allowing military to use ‘lethal force’ against Americans as video resurfaces showing Kamala fantasizing about weaponizing DOJ against U.S. citizens

The timing of Federal Directive 5240.01 is interesting in light of the upcoming election and the government's narrative about right wing extremists being the 'biggest threat' to US national security.

A video clip has resurfaced from May of 2019 in which Kamala Harris advocates weaponizing the DOJ against speech the government doesn’t like, and the platforms that allow it.

In the meantime, one month before a tense presidential election, the U.S. Department of Defense has authorized U.S. military “defense intelligence components” to use “lethal force” against American citizens if requested by state or local law enforcement in an emergency situation. More on this in a minute, but first let’s get to the May 2019 video showing Kamala Harris unleashing her inner dictator.

Speaking at the annual NAACP ‘Fight for Freedom Fund’ dinner in Detroit, Harris threatened: “We will put the Department of Justice of the United States back in the business of justice. We will double the civil rights division, and direct Law Enforcement to counter this extremism.”

She went on to say she would “hold Social Media Platforms accountable for the hate infiltrating their platforms, because they have a responsibility to help fight against this threat to our Democracy. If you don’t police your platforms, we are going to hold you accountable…”

Hate to be doom and gloom, but I am guessing one way or the other, this election result is going to have a high probability of  serious rioting implications.

On October 18, 2024, Law Enforcement Today had the following headline, which passed by almost unnoticed: “DoD secretly reauthorizes bill that would allow military intervention domestically…and adds ability to use deadly force.”

The reissue of Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 5240.01 was quietly put into effect on September 27, 2024, six weeks before our presidential election. It is a formalized license to kill.

 Why? Because the Democrat party has determined that civil unrest is bad after condoning the 2020 “mostly peaceful” riots that consumed much of our nation in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. It provides protection for the military to kill under clear cover of authority. Imagine the outcry if this had occurred under Donald Trump. This directive was not necessary.

President Trump argued for the use of National Guard or military assistance during this period of civil unrest as local law enforcement was unable to control the rioting mobs, although he was talked out of using an authority that presidents have used regularly over the last one hundred years ...

Those were specific instances, locations, and targeted groups. Bad enough...and imho, of highly questionable legality.
The National Guard has also been called out on numerous occasions over the decades to quell rioting in specific times and places.

But the newly remodeled directive is significantly broader, not specifying event, time frame, geographical location, targeted group(s), nor qualifying reasons. As such, it is a blanket refutation of the Posse Comitatus Act, and not a highly specified exception.

Fair enough.  I *think* the idea is to allow the DoD to quickly bypass the law and send troops into DC in the paranoid belief that pissed off Conservatives would march on Washington (again?) and storm the Capitol (again?).  That was the big hang up when Pelosi, quite outside the chain of command, called up Milley and asked him to send some soldiers over to engage, scare off, and/or shoot(?) the January 6 protesters.

But like all such things coming out of DC backrooms, it's a heckuva slippery slope...
