The righteously blinded Kamala Harris

It is not that Vice President Kamala Harris is against offering any concessions to those who disagree with her on fundamental political issues — it is that she has proven herself to be completely incapable of even recognizing why her political opponents might object.
Pressed by NBC News’s Hallie Jackson to identify a single concession she would be willing to make on the issue of abortion, Harris rejected the entire premise.
“What concessions would be on the table,” Jackson asked about a possible legislative fix to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. “Religious exemptions, for example,” Jackson gently offered, “is that something that you would consider with a Republican-controlled Congress?”
Harris was having none of it. “I don’t think we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body,” Harris said. “Let’s just start with a fundamental fact, a basic freedom has been taken from the women of America,” Harris continued, “The freedom to make decisions about their own body. And that cannot be negotiable, which is why we need to put back in the protections of Roe v Wade.”
Which is a ludicrous statement on the face because Roe itself was a political compromise between Supreme Court justices with no basis in law or fact. Roe held that states could not regulate abortion in the first third of a pregnancy, could make “narrowly tailored” regulations in the second, and could legally prohibit all abortions in the final third. If the right of a woman to make choices about her body was so fundamental, why the sliding scale of when the state was and was not allowed to regulate?
