Ironically, the Biden-Harris administration wants to criminalize internal combustion engine pickup trucks.  This footage will be used by the Global Climate Change Revolutionary Justice Committee to prosecute Tim Walz for Crimes Against The Climate.

Plus, the Global Climate Change Revolutionary Justice Committee will want to put down that flatulent dog of his.

I will agree. That's how I, a lady, check mine. And it appears that one is new, out of the box. This is just so much propaganda. Heck, I'll bet he can even check the oil. :rolling:

With the wrapper still on. Shiny plastic around the element. That'll make it run rich...
Notice no oil on his hands, and no dirt in the (new) air cleaner he is supposedly 'checking', which generally is done after either extremely dirty operating conditions or a set mileage interval. Not one bug. In the land of 10,000 lakes? Seriously? Sheesh.

Tim Walz needs a manual to remove an old truck's air filter and replace it? Does he know you don't "clean" those old-style paper air filters; you replace them?

As remarkable as his hands staying completely pristine through the process is the plastic still around the filter element. So bloody obviously staged.

The only time I have ever cleaned an air filter with a paper element was in Nevada, riding with a co-worker whose vehicle died a long way from anywhere in the desert. We popped the hood, and the entire housing assembly was packed with fine dust. I carefully disconnected the automatic choke vacuum hose and lifted the entire assembly off, then dumped the dirt out and cleaned the paper element by banging it against the bumper for a few minutes to be able to see the folds in the paper again. The works was reassembled, the vehicle started, and we drove off. He got a new filter at the first opportunity.

I did run a foam one, oil treated, for a few years, and had great results with it, and that could be cleaned by removing the foam and literally washing it out, drying it, re-oiling it, and re-using it. I think it was an AmsOil product. That rebuilt engine still runs, with over 120,000 miles on it.

But this Walz scam video of trying to be 'one of the guys' just doesn't fly.

Hands sure are clean for a "maintenance" kind of guy.  Mine gets soiled just opening the hood of mine.  No smudges on the hand, shirt, cap, etc.

No one is buying this shit.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Yes, I did that a time or two back when I had a '71 Duster and a '66 Mustang. Just a temporary measure until I could get to the auto parts store for a new one, though, and certainly not "cleaning" it.

Walz is a phony. Agreed.

But we clean under the hood all the time. A clean engine compartment makes it easier to spot leaks.

Ordinarily, I agree, but we were in the middle of the desert, about 70 miles from the nearest town. We had to do something, and we had a lot more dusty road ahead of us, so leaving the filter off was a non-starter (the road, if you can call it that was the source of the dust that packed off the air cleaner to the point the engine died.

The only one I ordinarily cleaned instead of replaced was a foam filter that was specifically designed to be washed out, re-oiled, and re-used. I still think the old oil bath air cleaners do the best job, but the CFM is limited, and I only have that on my '41 International with the original 214 C.I. ("green diamond") six cylinder flathead with the single barrel carb.
