A progressive-backed bill to mandate cultural and sensitivity training for police recruits is being panned by House Republican lawmakers who are former officers themselves.

"It is imperative that law enforcement officers are well-trained on agency policy and procedures and held to the highest standards that keep both officers and the public safe," Rep. John Rutherford, R-Fla., a former sheriff and 40-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, told Fox News Digital.

"However, it is not the role of Congress, nor should it be, to tell local agencies what that training should look like."

Maybe we need to get back to the idea of having some sort of overweening American culture, back to things like the The Pledge of Allegiance, Civics, an appreciation for the sacrifices of the founders, and the signers of the Declaration of Independence and just what that document meant in 1776 for the signers and the Colonies and the world, and how all of that set in motion the most desirable balance between government and people in the history of the world. Not perfect, but definitely better, and improved over time, well at least until the latest infusion of Marxist thought.

Let's get back to having a basic American culture the others can be hyphenated onto (although I'd prefer it to be just "American") instead of this Marxist copycat nonsense from failed or oppressive regimes worldwide throughout history. Decentralize it as was intended, with a very limited Federal Government with few duties, and leave the rest to the States.
