President Joe Biden is planning to hit the 2024 campaign trail for Vice President Kamala Harris, breaking from his past few weeks of relative silence.
After stepping down as the Democratic nominee on July 22, Biden has been relatively quiet, with media attention moving to his successor. He is due to break that self-imposed exile sometime in the near future, according to Politico.
Three officials familiar with the matter said that the date and location haven’t been settled on, but that he will be deployed “strategically” — in battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
The president is also expected to target constituencies he polled well with, such as older voters, and focus on bipartisan appeals such as his policies regarding infrastructure and lowering drug prices.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Biden’s team for comment.
Biden’s campaign had promised to hit the campaign trail again while he was nominee just three days before he dropped out.
Biden played a role in choosing Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as Harris’s running mate, with people familiar with the matter saying that the Minnesota governor was the president’s favored pick.
