Trump congratulates Putin for Russia-US prisoner exchange
« on: August 04, 2024, 02:34:55 pm »
At a Georgia rally on Aug. 3, Donald Trump congratulated Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the historic prisoner exchange arranged by U.S. President Joe Biden that freed 16 people wrongfully imprisoned in Russia, including the Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich.

"By the way, I’d like to congratulate Vladimir Putin for having made yet another great deal,” Trump said. “Did you see the deal we made? Now look, we want to get people in. We got 59 hostages — I never paid anything."

"They released some of the greatest killers anywhere in the world," Trump added. "Some of the most evil killers they got. And we got our people back, but boy, we made some horrible, horrible deals. And it’s nice to say we got them back, but does that set a bad precedent?"

I miss the days when no one from the GOP would do anything like this.  One the main reasons why I'm not voting for Trump.

His sarcasm (which I took it to be) is lost in the headlines.   He just can't get out of his own way. Just when I thought he might be toning down his rhetoric and making stupid thoughtless comments,  after Kamala became the head of the ticket he turns tight back to it. When he feels threatened that seems to be what he does.. Will he ever learn. Will his advisors if he has any slap him upside the head and convince him he's blowing this election.

It's been my experience that whichever side questions if their candidate  wants to win an election is the side that loses

It was the same question I heard people ask with Ford, GHW Bush, and McCain

Well, in the case of McCain, he endorsed Obama

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Praising Putin, even sarcastically, gains what exactly?

I think a simple comment saying he is happy for the hostages and their families.  Does he need to tell our enemies that the door is wide open to seize Americans, for the USA will certainly make it worth your wile.  Hell no!

What he should be talking about is with him in office, enemy states will be reluctant to gain his ire by seizing our people.  You do not want Donald Trump as an enemy by taking Americans.

That would endear American voters to him for appearing to be strong, which he is versus the lame weak Biden/Harris Idiocracy.
