Oakland's woke prosecutor dealt a huge blow by Gavin Newsom

California governor Gavin Newsom has announced that the state's national guard prosecutors will be taking over Alameda County cases, in a blow to progressive district attorney Pamela Price. Newsom made the announcement on Monday, months after the California Highway Patrol was expanded and deployed in Oakland to help assist local authorities with crime.

In California, District Attorneys are elected by and have jurisdiction in counties. Oakland is the county seat, but DA Price is Alameda County's DA, not just Oakland's. Alameda County has quite a few populous cities besides Oakland.

Both Pamela Price and Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao are facing recall challenges in November. Price is a racist; Thao is a walking clue-free zone.
