Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) warned Republicans not to underestimate Vice President Kamala Harris’s ability to win her presidential battle against former President Donald Trump.

The senator said he believes Harris “could win,” adding that “Republicans would make a huge mistake by discounting her” during an interview with political commentator Tucker Carlson on Tuesday.

Lee said Harris could be the victor in November partly because he believes the press is on her side. He criticized media outlets for walking back Harris’s label as “border czar,” a title she was commonly referred to after the White House tapped her to address immigration reform at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“They’re scrubbing things she has said in the past,” Lee said during a two-hour segment of the Tucker Carlson Show. “Crazy statements she has made, from defunding the police to aggressive, radical climate change policies, Green New Deal Stuff.”

Lee is worried the press is “papering over” Harris’s record. He said Trump could lose to the vice president “because she’s got this media industrial complex that’s completely behind her.”

Yes, we should take this seriously. It's not so much her as the inevitable vote fraud her party will commit.
Republicans could be up by 5 points across the board, but it may not be enough.

And I remember all the Fox News pundits and talk radio and people like Karl Rove predicting a Romney win in 2012

She will  be Trump’s toughest opponent. And if somebody like a Shapiro or a Beshear, she will be that much more formidable. Nobody should kill themselves that if she picks Shapiro, the HAMAs wing will be upset enough to withhold their vote

She doesn’t even have to run a good campaign. She just needs to make sure she gets her base out to vote for her and big enough numbers especially inner city blacks.

None of these candidates are particularly popular with the public. But like another poster mentioned in another thread, it’s very possible voters will vote for her just to put someone new in

Mitt Romney ran a pretty decent campaign in 2012 and was doing alright in the polls. He did better amongst rule and suburban voters than McCain in 2008 due to voters dissatisfaction with the economy and direction of the country at that time

But Obama’s race and ideology won him the affections of his base. And that’s all that will matter to Harris’s voters, especially because she’s more left wing than Obama was

First mistake was the idea that Republicans had that Democrat voters would somehow be upset that their voice was taken away from them. They voted for Biden in the primary and now they got a replacement that they didn’t vote for.  Bull!! They are relieved and happy because  they knew there was no way they were going to win with a brain addled Biden. Now they are revived

She could very seriously flop in the coming months. But I wouldn’t bet on it. And will that be enough to overcome the identity politics of left-wing voters


Mike Lee is right. And it doesn’t matter who the Republican candidate would’ve been. This is not the same electorate as 1980

Running ads showing how far to the left she may turn  off independent voters to her.  But that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily pull the lever for Donald Trump. They may just decide both these candidates are bad enough and stay home

But it could further fire up her base. Especially young people who think the biggest issue facing them is climate change
