The House Judiciary Committee cited whistleblowers who said Secret Service resources were stretched thin last week ahead of a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump occurred, because the agency was also protecting the NATO summit, the committee said in a letter to the FBI on Thursday.

Citing the unnamed whistleblowers, committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray that he had learned the FBI was present during two briefings on July 8 when the rally was discussed.

Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Tim Burke told law enforcement personnel during those briefings that the Secret Service had “limited resources” that week because it was also covering the major NATO gathering in Washington, D.C., Jordan wrote.

Jordan acknowledged that the FBI was not the sole law enforcement entity responsible for the rally security but added it is the “lead federal investigative arm and a key source of intelligence on potential threats for special events in its area of responsibility.”

The FBI Pittsburgh Field Office is leading the investigation into the rally, where a gunman opened fire on the crowd, killing one person and critically injuring two more. Trump suffered a minor injury to the ear. The shooter, who authorities say was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, crawled onto the roof of a building about 400 yards from Trump and was able to fire off multiple rounds before a Secret Service sniper killed him.

The incident marked the first assassination attempt on a president or former president in four decades, and several questions about what led to the stunning security failure remain unaddressed.

OMFG ... it doesn't take a Yale Law Degree to recognize that a susicious white male (therefore can be profiled by law enforcement), with a range finder and a rifle, atop a roof with a clear line of sight, is an imminent threat that needs immediate neutralization.

It's Pennsylvania.  Everyone outside Pittsburgh and Philly have hunting rifles.  The Secret Service could have put a deer hunter, a mall cop, or a rent-a-cop on the roof.

It was gross incompetence, at best, or a Deep State conspiracy, at worst.  Cheatle and Mayorkas both need to be fired.

I'm more concerned with why they continue to demonstrate 'limited resources'.  Do they currently have anyone at the site searching for evidence?  Anyone?  Are they getting help from any other investigative agency?

Speculation now has it that most of Trumps detail Sat were not actual SS agents but rather rent-an agents from other Gov. departments.  I tend to believe this after seeing the performance of the dancing dyke cops with sunglasses.

The department most in need of a massive overhaul is DHS, which never should have been created in the first place.

It's been a week now, and we still haven't gotten a look at the gun.  In any infamous shooting like this, law enforcement always comes forward with plenty of information on the weapon.  But this time, nothing, other than the caliber.
