Obama weighs in on support for Biden following nightmare performance

Former President Barack Obama stood behind President Joe Biden after his disastrous debate performance on Thursday.

“Bad debate nights happen,” Obama said. “Trust me, I know.”

Obama backed up Biden while many observers want others to take his place as the Democratic nominee.

“But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself,” the former president continued. “Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November.”

Obama’s support likely proves key to Biden, who admitted Friday that he’s not as good at debating as he once was.

Biden was the former president’s running mate in 2008 and 2012.

In 2012, the former president had a rough first presidential debate against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, but was able to rebound in the following two debates. Biden – who was Obama’s vice president – had a strong 2012 debate against Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, just over a week after Obama’s poor showing in the first presidential debate.

Unlike in 2012, there are only two presidential debates scheduled between Biden and former President Donald Trump, with the gap between Thursday’s debate and the planned Sept. 10 debate being 75 days – rather than the three debates over a 19-day span in 2012. Another factor different from 12 years ago is that Biden, 81, has already faced concerns over his mental fitness as he seeks a second term.

For those who refuse to click on the above tweet and read the entire thing:

As the next few days play out, remember the following.

When Obama left office in 2017, he did not do what every other President before him did and ride off into the sunset to build a library and chop wood.  Nope.  He  bought a house in DC's posh Kalorama neighborhood and set up a functioning, well-staffed, policy-making office.  The Democrat/Media Complex obviously did not care, but this was historically unprecedented.

From 2017-2021, Obama used that office to orchestrate the innumerable hoaxes and dirty tricks that he and the rest of the fascists used to undermine the Trump Presidency.

From 2021 until now, Obama used that office to manage Joe Biden and continue the #lawfare persecution of Trump.

No matter what happens over the next days and weeks, realize it's being managed from that Kalorama home.

Obama is an evil narcissist who has done more damage to America than any other politician in its history.

From an unusually good source: Obama’s tweet supporting Joe Biden was disingenuous. In private, Obama is telling people Biden can’t win, and he is therefore in favor of an open convention. Obama will not say whom he supports, nor as of yesterday afternoon had he met personally with Biden to deliver the message. Relations between the Obamas and the Bidens have never been warm. At times they’ve been hostile. But recently they’ve deteriorated further, mostly due to Jill Biden. In the hours and days after the debate, she kept her husband cloistered away from anyone who might convince him to drop out.

Jill Biden is the driving force behind her husband’s reelection campaign, just as she was in 2020, when other members of the family (including Biden’s sister Val) considered him too impaired to run. The next generation of potential Democratic candidates understands all this as an opportunity and they’re circling, particularly Gretchen Whitmer, who is promoting herself aggressively.
