House Republicans to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas on two articles

House Republicans plan to impeach President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on two articles in a historic committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, the Washington Examiner has learned.

The House Homeland Security Committee will take up articles of impeachment for Willful and Systemic Refusal to Comply with the Law and Breach of the Public Trust against Mayorkas, according to the committee.

“These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment,” said House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) in a statement. “He has willfully and systemically refused to comply with immigration laws enacted by Congress. He has breached the public trust by knowingly making false statements to Congress and the American people, and obstructing congressional oversight of his department.

“Secretary Mayorkas has also completely disregarded the separation of powers, a bedrock of our constitutional republic. Congress has a duty to see that the executive branch implements and enforces the laws we have passed,” Green continued. “It is time we take this affront to a coequal branch of government, to the Constitution, and to the American people seriously. The House of Representatives must impeach Secretary Mayorkas.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told colleagues in a letter Friday that the chamber will move “as soon as possible” to impeach Mayorkas, who has served in his position since February 2021.

“When we return next week, by necessity, the House Homeland Security Committee will move forward with Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas,” Johnson wrote. “A vote on the floor will be held as soon as possible thereafter.”

Are there enough in the senate to oust him, or is this all for naught?

No! It isn't "all for naught"! Let the House do its own business and let the chips fall where they may.

Are there enough in the senate to oust him, or is this all for naught?

No, not enough for the Senate to oust him, but not all for naught if they can expose the whole dirt and bring it to light.

With a majority that small, you play the cards you got.

I believe that Mayorkas, instead of being a dupe on the order of Pete Buttplug, was actually instrumental in formulating administration policies. He was, and remains, one of "the hidden politburo" behind the curtain actually running the place.

If this impeachment begins to go anywhere, I predict that he will suddenly resign and then promptly drop out of sight, invisible and "un-findable" for a good while...

House Republicans taking a key vote toward impeaching Mayorkas as border becomes 2024 campaign issue

WJTV by: LISA MASCARO and REBECCA SANTANA 1/30/2024

House Republicans are preparing to take a key vote Tuesday toward impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over what they call his “willful and systematic” refusal to enforce immigration laws as border security becomes a top 2024 election issue.

The Homeland Security Committee opened a day-long hearing on two articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, a rare charge against a Cabinet official unseen in nearly 150 years, as Republicans make GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s hard-line deportation approach to immigration their own.

“The actions and decisions of Secretary Mayorkas have left us with no other option but to proceed with articles of impeachment,” said Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn.

The articles charge that Mayorkas “willfully and systematically refused to comply with Federal immigration laws” and that he has “breached the public trust” in his claims to Congress that the border is secure.

“We cannot allow this man to remain in office any longer,” Green said.

What a colossal waste of time. What is the point of impeaching Mayorkas if he isn't going to be found guilty in the Senate?

So no one should try to hold the corrupt accountable or responsible? That IS exactly why this Republic is in the sad shape it's in.  No one has been held responsible or accountable accept those that don't march to the beat of the leftist/globalist/marxist drum.

It is a sad state of affairs when the Constitution is allowed to be trampled on, a free pass is given to stealing an election and it's ok to allow the invasion of our country and few are doing a damn thing about it.

House panel approves impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

New York Post By  Josh Christenson 1/31/2024

A Republican-led House panel approved articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas early Wednesday for having “willfully and systematically” flouted federal immigration laws and breached the public trust.

The House Homeland Security Committee voted 18-15 along party lines for the two articles of impeachment, affirming that Mayorkas failed to detain migrants crossing the border before deciding whether to grant asylum.

The articles also state that the secretary ignored records requests from the committee and misled Congress about having “operational control” of the US border and maintaining that it is “secure.”

The marathon hearing, which dragged on for more than 15 hours, saw several procedural attempts by Democrats to tank the impeachment effort, with Republicans insisting that their year-long investigation had uncovered sufficient evidence that Mayorkas violated his oath of office.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) pledged on Friday to hold a floor vote on the articles “as soon as possible” after having released a memo earlier this month citing 64 times the Biden administration undermined US border security.

If passed in the narrowly divided House, Mayorkas would be the second Cabinet official impeached in US history — and the first since Secretary of War William Belknap in 1876.

Late-Night Vote Advances Historic Mayorkas Impeachment Charges to House Floor

The Biden border chief is at risk of becoming the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached by the House of Representatives in nearly 150 years

By Stephen Neukam, Kayla Gallagher and Geoffrey Rowland
Republicans in the House Homeland Security Committee early Wednesday morning advanced two articles of impeachment against Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, sending the measure to the full house as the border and the migrant crisis take center stage on Capitol Hill.

With this vote, the Biden border chief is at risk of becoming the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached by the House of Representatives in nearly 150 years.

The 18-15 vote was strictly on party lines and came after a hearing that lasted for more than 12 hours. The Republican impeachment articles charge Mayorkas with failing to carry out U.S. border and immigration laws and breach of trust by telling Congress that the U.S.-Mexico border was secure.

It is now up to House Republican leaders to schedule the impeachment vote, which could come as soon as next week, a source familiar with the timing told The Messenger.

If Mayorkas is impeached by the House, send it to the Senate, fate be damned.

Force the Senators to have a recorded vote so we know who deserves to be primaried for bing weak on immigration enforcement.

The impeachment of Mayorkas is a political attempt to hld the Executive accountable for not enforcing the laws of the United States.  Another means is the power of the purse.

Biden won't voluntarily secure the Border; he will have to be forced to secure it.

In the meantime, where's the State Department?  Shouldn't they be actively engaging Latin American countries?

Where's the Commerce Department?  We could improve Latin America's economy and grow its educated middle class if we re-patriate our supply chains out of China and into the Western Hemisphere.

I don't see the Biden admin doing anythng to improve the Border situation.  They have no plan, but, they don't want to let this crisis got to waste to get more pork barrell spending.

Where the Hell is Cackles, the Border Czarina?

The Biden admin is full of detached, aloof, lazy, condescending, hypocritical, liberal, academic elites - aka douchebags.

The system they work under most be one of the most infectious systems ever created, but it is still the best system of government anywhere in the world.

The greed and the lust for personal power has taken hold of the minds of too many  of our elected leaders.

I don't even have a suggestion as to how  "we,the people" can correct this, other to to suddenly get lucky  enough that only honorable men and women  of conscience run for public office and get elected.
