Tiger Island Fire continues to burn as residents of entire Louisiana towns forced to evacuate

Mandatory evacuation orders remain in place for a few Louisiana communities as efforts to battle the Tiger Island Fire in Beauregard Parish continue.

According to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, containment has decreased from 85% to 50% on Friday due to constantly shifting wind conditions and the dry conditions of the vegetation. Efforts of concentration are near the towns of Merryville and Junction.

As of Friday morning, three residential structures have burned, but there have been no reported injuries or loss of life, the sheriff's office said.

More than 20,000 acres have burned since local fire departments, volunteers and the National Guard battled the fire, which started Tuesday morning. By Wednesday, the first mandatory evacuations went out for parts of Singer, Louisiana.

"It's burning very intensely," said Mike Strain, Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry. "It's moving pretty fast, and you can feel the air picking up. That's from the heat of the fire sucking air into the fire." ............

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
