Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration is preparing to declare a “climate emergency” with Covid pandemic-like restrictions on public freedoms, several energy industry insiders are warning.

Energy industry groups fear the Biden White House is planning to declare a pandemic-like emergency that will grant the president sweeping new powers.

“They’re leaning to that direction,” U.S. Oil and Gas Association President Tim Stewart told Just the News.

“If you grant the president’s emergency powers to declare a climate emergency, it’s just like Covid.”

Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer recently introduced legislation to require Biden to make such a declaration that also was co-sponsored by 62 congressional Democrats.

More recently, the Guardian newspaper published an op-ed reading, "Biden must declare a climate emergency. And he must do so now.”

According to Congressional Research Service, presidential emergency powers “may be exercised in the event that the nation is threatened by crisis, exigency, or emergency circumstances,” and those powers may be stated explicitly or implied by the Constitution.

Okay, all that stuff basically adds up to "some people want Biden to declare a climate emergency, and he may have the authority to do so."  But the headline says:

That's a pretty huge distinction, especially when coupled with the claim that it would let Biden execute "Presidential Emergency Powers".

I guess I'm just getting kind of jaded/frustrated that conservative media sources seem to engage in the same kind of inaccurate hype/spin/misrepresentation in which the MSM engages, and that many conservatives seem no more likely to read sources and headlines critically than do leftists.  If it is something that gets our blood up, or that validates our suspicions/fears, we just accept it without bothering to see if it is actually true.
