The saying "Fences make for good neighbors" suggests having clear boundaries can help maintain good relationships between neighbors. However, at Houston's city hall, there's a proposal to have shared driveways instead of separate ones. Planners argue that this would reduce breaks in the sidewalk and create more street parking for future development. On the other hand, builders say prospective customers don't want shared driveways.

The legal system tends to work best when property assets are separate, claims are clear and documented, and ownership well defined.
Only winners here will be lawyers.
