Secession Is Here: States, Cities and Wealthy are Already Withdrawing from America
Story by Michael J. Lee • Yesterday 3:24 PM

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, wants a “national divorce.” In her view, another Civil War is inevitable unless red and blue states form separate countries.

She has plenty of company on the right, where a host of others – 52% of Trump voters, Donald Trump himself and prominent Texas Republicans – have endorsed various forms of secession in recent years. Roughly 40% of Biden voters have fantasized about a national divorce as well. Some on the left urge a domestic breakup so that a new egalitarian nation might be, as Lincoln said at Gettysburg, “brought forth on this continent.”

The American Civil War was a national trauma precipitated by the secession of 11 Southern states over slavery. It is, therefore, understandable that many pundits and commentators would weigh in about the legality, feasibility and wisdom of secession when others clamor for divorce.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
We are going to have a nat'l divorce whether we want it or not. The FedGov is going to become increasingly financially impotent as time goes on, and it's going to recede to more and more of a rump state.

The territory will reorganize along the blue state urban areas and red rural areas, and state or new nation lines will be drawn from there.

For the time being, many states like Missouri and Texas are passing laws to prepare themselves to go alone.
The Republic is lost.

Call me what you want.  I really don't want to live in a country that relishes and thrives in my tax dollars as entitlement slugs.

Day 1 of the creation of Galtville gets closer by the moment.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

The biggest losers of a national divorce would be sparsely populated rural Southern, Midwestern, and Western states - the ones that grow our food.

RINO prognosticates:
"The biggest losers of a national divorce would be sparsely populated rural Southern, Midwestern, and Western states - the ones that grow our food."

Why do you think that?
Any state that "grows food" will ALWAYS have a market for that food.
If not "in the blue states" -- that "market" will be in trade with other nations.

What is Rhode Island going to do when the food shipments stop?

Galtville is here. It may not look the same as in “Atlas Shrugged.” But it’s people leaving oppressive blue states like New York to move to more free states like Texas and Florida.

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

  • WE are NOT ok!
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

There is a whole world out there that wants to eat. You might keep in mind we grow most of the food out here. My state exports half of the electricity it produces, and is only number 3 producing oil and natural gas (New Mexico passed us), but that's far more than we use. So we'll have plenty to trade if there is anything we need from the cities we can't get elsewhere.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

For a while they'll fight each other over what's left, then resort to cannibalism.
