Principalities and Powers

Demonic forces never stopped running through human affairs. We just stopped seeing them.

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.

Aaron Rodgers won’t take the Covid jab, but he will gulp down some ayahuasca. It’s a very strict organic diet.

At an inopportune hour in the middle of one night this week, as I lay awake and alone in a dark and sprawling and empty house, I stumbled upon purported details of the quarterback’s account of trips he took to Peru in the last few years.

According to some less-than-reputable websites and at least one viral Twitter thread, the Packers’ favorite anti-vaxxer claims that he’s been stalked by an entity he describes as “Hat Man” since going under the influence of powerful psychedelics. The Hat Man is a recurring trope in such visions—a dark and menacing figure who comes usually in dreams.

“He will sometimes appear in the distance,” Rodgers reportedly said, “usually veiled by darkness, holding the corpse of a dead rabbit and sometimes a blade.”

I don’t know if the Rodgers story is true. What I do know is that it’s entirely plausible, and it’s entirely in line with trends that have popped up all over in the course of these last few months.

Something is changing in the way we face the supernatural.

The danger posed to human souls by all this experimentation is a high cost. But it may, in its roundabout way, lead to rediscovery of certain fundamental truths. Our most primitive human ancestors, in the four millennia between banishment from the garden and the Incarnation of Christ—without either the light of revelation or the accumulation of reason we call tradition—knew there were dark things in the world that they should fear. We can claim (as has become fashionable) that they were merely spiritualizing the mundane dangers man faced before conquering nature.

That would make us fools.

I am a scientist, but know there are things science simply cannot explain, especially when those things were first shelved under the term "supernatural", and as our self perceived sophistication advanced, were dismissed summarily.

Mrs. Joe was picked by her Auntie to become a Chippewa Medicine Woman, to train under that Auntie.

She loved the herbal lore, but there is a darker, dangerous spiritual side she wanted no part of. Needless to say, she walked away from it and embraced Jesus (Yahweh).

There have been numerous times in my life when things happened, were felt, urges to not do something I ordinarily would have, or to do something I would not have, and dreams that foreshadowed events which transpired.

I'm not psychic, make no claim to be, and have had to be convinced there is something to all this as time has gone by.

When I had pneumonia, back in 2002, on oxygen, couldn't breathe a teacup full, suddenly I wasn't in the room at the hospital. I was surrounded by warm, golden clouds, and standing on one of them was Jesus. To make the story short he said to me: "Go back. It is not yet your time." Immediately, I was back in the hospital room. That night, I coughed up rubbery green to olive drab gunk all night, until my lungs were clear in the morning. The respiratory tech guys came in and gave my lungs a listen. They couldn't believe it, and told me they were going to put me on a respirator that morning, but I didn't need it. In fact breath sounds in both lungs were near normal. I was released that day.
I don't have to believe, I know. Good stuff for someone trained as a 'Doubting Thomas'.

One other thing I vividly recall is that when the election results rolled in in 2008, the whole universe felt, well, WRONG. It has not felt 'right' since, just a little less WRONG for a little while, and is back to its progression of evil, in perhaps more haste than before. That year (2008), especially, something happened that opened this world up to evil in ways not seen by modern man. That continues to develop, even as we discover the scope of that evil.

This is a time of choosing, if you have not already, what you will serve, the Darkness or the Light.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Principalities and Powers

Demonic forces never stopped running through human affairs. We just stopped seeing them.

That needs way more emphasis... As a culture, we shut our eyes tightly and denied the existence of anything supernatural. That's not entirely true - In part, it was the dominance of Christianity in the western world that effectively suppressed demons and the occult that serve them - You can see it happen in history. Read the lamentations of the seers of Apollo - The Sibylline Oracles - who admitted that the Christian prophets in their lands prevented them from being able to see - Their vision faded and lost effect.

And the same, transmitted across all the lands where the Christian God became established. Every arcane religion lost it's effective power - The creatures of the night, the trolls and ogres, goblins and elves... all of the magical left the land before it, in legend, crossing the seas in the beginning of the Age of Man...

But this was in the beginning of Christian power, when believers cast out demons and showed miracles. As lands were secured however, those acts of power diminished... Christian teaching prevailed.

But as its power diminished, the Age of Reason rose up in the vaccuum, culminating in the rise of occult power seductively dressed as science, and the Right of Kings disguised in eliteism guarded by bureaucracy.

Christianity remained - largely gutted - A form of godliness, but denying its power - a panacea for the masses... While Luciferianism remained ensconced in Society's elites, and in secret societies... Simply look at the layout of Washington DC, the profane symbolism, to understand just who presided and controlled the government of this (at the time) unquestionably Christian nation.

Frog in a pot. As education systems were employed to teach the youth doubt in their God, and organized education promoted the seven sacred (profane) sciences (now the seven liberal arts) culture began to falter, and the pendulum began to swing the other way... And the profane, which used to be contained in red light districts across the tracks, began to be legalized and mainstreamed. Purposefully.

And the working end of satanism began to flourish, Christians no longer guarding the gates, the occult trickle began to flood. Witchcraft and Voodoo legitimized. Crowley and Blavatski ascend, Nazi occult hidden in science, till Jack Parsons and Ron Hubbard open a portal with occult arts and it doesn't even make the news - That place, where they opened that portal, we know now as Area 51. Coincidence? No, it is not.

Of course it is true - evidence abounds - It is just ignored. Waived off. Nothing to see here... Or worse yet, ridiculed. And none of this is new. None.

Oh you ain't seen nothing yet. The trickle has become a cascade. The cascade will become a flood. And this is where the rubber hits the road - Not in the politics and society pages that so many are distracted by. This, right here, is the seething evil that drives it all.

There is a deep, almost genetic reason humans fear the dark...

And darkness is not merely night.

I have been in the woods when suddenly it goes deathly quiet... Sudden silence - Not even insects... And in that moment, terror comes creeping up... the throat tightens, the hair on your arms goes electric, and the air on your scalp is squirming around.

And the dog knows it too... The dog can see it.
Something is there. And whatever it is ain't good.

I used to think that was griz. And fairly so. A pissed off or hunting griz... well everything flees before it. So the forest does go silent... the birds and squirrels watching (you can get a fair position from that)... But not the bugs. That's the difference.

This is something else.

The city will teach you to pay no mind when you're creeped out... To rationalize your way out of an unwarranted fear. Laugh it off as the ridiculous thing it is...

The forest teaches a different thing.

I know that of which you speak.
Places that a guy just wants to leave.

One, many years ago, Mrs. Joe was riding with me when we went down a small valley.
We both wanted out of there in the worst way.
Come to find out later, there had been a massacre there in the 1800s.
Some places are thirsty, not so much for blood, but your spirit.

But I have been other places where sitting a spell lifts the spirit and refreshes.

One of the first things I do in some new place is stop and listen as the critters resume their normal activity after that intruder came among them (me). That way, I get a feel for what sounds are the normal goings on, whether I'm in the desert, the hills, the prairie, the badlands, or the mountains in the woods. Every place sounds, feels different. and when those normal sounds stop, something is afoot. Sometimes a critter, a predator, another human, and sometimes something else.
