Bronx WWII hero, 97, ex-POW who escaped the Nazis and was shot by a sniper to finally receive Purple Heart
Brian Niemietz - Yesterday 5:27 PM

A97-year-old Jewish World War II veteran from the Bronx who escaped Nazi captivity and survived a pair of gunshot wounds will receive a Prisoner of War Medal and the Purple Heart Tuesday at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn.

According to war hero Willie Kellerman, who made his great escape 78 years ago, it’s about damn time.

“I only waited 77 years,” he told the Daily News on the eve of the big event.

Kellerman’s adventure began when he was an 18-year-old soldier fighting in Europe during World War II. After being captured by German troops and marched to a POW camp, he said he made his break and continued running for 600 miles through occupied France.

It would seem a clear case of discrimination since he was Jewish.  FDR wasn't overly fond of Jews, you know. :pondering:

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I am just glad to finally see him awarded the decorations he earned so long ago.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Long overdue!   :patriot: :patriot:
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
