Legal Insurrection by Mary Chastain 6/7/2022

Slap in the face to those suffering due to the high prices of all the things, not just gas.

Michigan Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow just had her “Let them eat cake!” moment:

“I’d have to say just on the issue of gas prices. After waiting for a long time to have enough chips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle, I got it and drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend, and went by every single gas station and it didn’t matter how high it was.”

Maybe Kid Rock will run against Stabenow since she showed her contempt for people who cannot afford electric cars, want an electric car, or who have more pressing financial issues.

Inflation is not just about gas prices. Yes, the national average price for a gallon of gas is $4.94. But we’ve seen prices for goods across the spectrum spike through the roof.

I dare Stabenow to go to the food pantry and brag about her electric car.

The average price of electric cars seems to rise every month. This article in March stated:

Purchase price. The sale price for an EV, on average, was $60,054 in February. That compared to $45,596 on average for all new vehicles, including electric ones, according to data from Edmonds. When compared to comparable gas models, EVs typically cost 10 to 15 percent more, although prices have been climbing steadily over the past couple of years and are expected to continue to rise. This week, for instance, Tesla announced it would raise prices on all its models. The Model 3, Tesla’s least expensive and most popular car, jumped $2,000 to $47,000.

I don't know whether this has been confirmed, but ...

Did you know @SenStabenow is being paid by @chevrolet to promote her electric vehicle Chevy Bolt when she is doing “televised” Senate hearings?  She told Americans she went 650+ miles from Michigan to DC and passed every station.  The car can only go 247 miles between charges.

And here I thought she was just being her normal stupid self.  From the State that gave us our Secretary of Energy.  Glad I left it over 40 years ago.

For what it is worth,I just bought a new Toyota Camry with the 200 HP 4 cylinder engine and 8 speed auto trans, and I am getting at least 40 MPG on unleaded regular gas. I say "at least" because 40 MPG is the maximum fuel mileage the computer displays.

Car is crazy comfortable thanks to the lumbar support seat, which is VERY important with my back problems, and with the gearing with the 8 speed, will pin you back in the seat if you punch it hard. Even at highway speeds, kick it into passing gear, and you are running 90-100 by the time you pass two or three slower cars.

The V-6 version of this car has 286 HP. Ifn ah wuz yungur an moor healthie............

AND,I can drive it all month cheaper than I can fill up my 3/4 ton diesel once.

In case you haven't shopped for cars recently,it's getting tough to buy one. I stopped at a Honda dealer,a Nissan dealer, and a Ford dealer, and not a single one of them had a single new car for sale. The Honda dealer told me "We are supposed to be getting in 22 new cars this month, but they are all already sold." Same with the Nissan dealer. I didn't even stop to talk with the Ford dealer because the only new vehicles he had on the lot were the 4x4 trucks costing north of 60 grand.

So I went to the Toyota dealer the next morning to buy a new 4 cylinder Toyota half-ton pu with an extended cab,4 cylinder engine,ac,cruise, etc that was on their web site. It was sold before I got there the next morning.

There were only 2 new vehicles  at the dealership. A  black Toyota sports coupe in the showroom, and the sticker price on it was for stoopid money. Not that it matters. I live up a dirt road and am NOT going to buy any dark-colored vehicle anyhow. Besides,I am not as flexible as I used to be,and couldn't get in and out of the damn thing if they had offered to give it to me.

The ONLY other new car they had on their lot was a demo being driven by a salesman. It was the white Camry that I bought. Had 340 miles on the odometer, which I saw as a GOOD thing because being driven by a salesman,if it had any bugs they would have already been fixed.

I am loving the hell out of the comfort and the convenience of this car. 60-120 mile round trips to various doctors are going to be pleasant drives now.

Good for you @sneakypete

Let them eat cake.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-
