I was 19 and in Nam when I first heard this.
I was lucky, I made it home!
I've been a huge Gary Puckett fan every since.
My fallen brothers.. I salute you on this memorial day!

Out of my squad, 3 of us came home.
I miss my fallen brothers to this day!

@mrclose @Bigun Welcome home to the both of you...I am sorry you were all treated so badly when you came home...shameful!

I was a teen and remember going to Scott AFBase to welcome home returning POWs...enormous crowds came to welcome them home.

I am roughly the same age as you,and somehow I never heard that song. I do remember Gary Puckett and the Union Gap,but not that song.

I've never run into another person that remembers that song and that includes a lot of Union Gap fans. 🙂
