Biden invokes Trump in bid to boost McAuliffe ahead of Election Day
By Julia Manchester - 10/26/21 08:58 PM EDT

ARLINGTON, Va.—President Biden hit the campaign trail with Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday as Election Day in the commonwealth reaches its final stretch.

Biden used the speech, which lasted over 15 minutes, to urge voters to head to the polls, warning that a victory for Republican Glenn Youngkin would be a victory for former President Trump.

“I ran against Donald Trump, and Terry is running against an acolyte of Donald Trump,” Biden told the crowd.

“[Youngkin] doesn’t like to talk about it very much now, but to win the Republican nomination, he embraced Donald Trump,” he continued.

A source familiar with the planning of the event said 2,500 people were in attendance.

The former president went on to question why Youngkin and Trump have not appeared together on the campaign trailing, asking “is he embarrassed?”

Biden called both of the Republicans extreme, but took a particular shot at Youngkin saying extremism “can come in a smile and a fleece vest.”

Only a crowd of 2,500 .... compared to Trump's usual 20,000 or more ... who are you trying to kid Joe?

I was watching the news out of Richmond this AM, and there were tons of ads for the Dems, both in the statewide races and delegates. Every single one hammered the Trump connection home, with abortion and 1/6 added for good measure. One delegate ad out-and-out lied and said that 5 Capitol Police died on 1/6. Even the Lincoln Project had an ad in there. I don't know what to think - I'm hoping that this is a sign the Dems are in trouble and they're trying to energize their base, but I'm also scared that there's enough low-info voters out there that could swing this to the Dems. Oy!
I, for one, welcome our feline overlords

I, too, am hoping they're trying to energize their base @godblessRonaldReagan    ..... I don't think it will work.  What worries me is the fraud machine.   :crying:

On the plus side, I'm seeings TV ads for Youngkin here inside the Beltway which are coherent and effective.  The Youngkin campaign spending money here tells me their internals show they've got a damn good shot.

We've all got to vote!!    :0001:

I've come to the conclusion that the crowds that turn out for a candidate are going to mean less and less in the future, as the nation grows ever-more divided.

This has to do with:
1. The increasing polarization of the electorate
and
2. The continuing refinement of the DCP "underground election apparatus".

I think we're reaching a point where a considerable cohort of the electorate (remember Mitt Romney's "47%"?) are now the proverbial "yellow dogs". It doesn't matter who is running, they vote for the candidate with "d" even if they're not really interested in who the candidates ARE.

Folks like this don't need to go to rallies, their decisions are made before the candidates are nominated.

(In full disclosure, this works for those on the right, as well, at least most of the time).

It doesn't matter whether McAuliffe draws 2,500, 25,000, or 250 people -- he's favored to win anyway because of the "d" that's next to his name on the ballot.

And if that's not enough, there's the DCP election apparatus that stands ready-and-waiting to deliver the additional manufactured ballots to supply the controlling margin of victory.

Have you checked the realclearpolitics polls lately?
Still think Youngkin can pull this off?

If the election is anywhere near "fair," I think he can.  This isn't NJ, CT or CA.  Murphy will cruise to a win in NJ.

All showtime. Does not matter how many votes he gets or not. The fix is in and the DEM wins. The FIX has never been FIXED. So all, every person in VA could vote for the other person and the DEM still wins. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, well everyone know the rest? wink777

Terry McAuliffe is Hillary Clinton's doppleganger, sans pantsuit.  He's the perfect Dem candidate to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
