Christopher Steele was contacted by a research company to do research on Trump and Russia. He had worked for the British for years as an agent in Russia so he knew names and people. After he got information, he took it straight to the FBI for them to investigate the part about the women. He said he did not know if that was real so he wanted them to investigate that part. He had worked with the FBI before and gave the information to a man who worked there that he had known in the past. In that past, his information to the FBI was always correct. He did the right thing this time asking the FBI t0 verify the women part.
