Buttigieg: Supply Chain Troubles ‘Will Continue into Next Year’

Pam Key 17 Oct 2021

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the supply chain backups at America’s ports “will continue into next year.”

Anchor Jake Tapper said, “We are seeing supply chain disruption causing everything from higher prices to longer waits for products. Moody’s warns that these supply chain disruptions, quote, ‘will get worse before they get better, ‘ unquote. do Americans need to prepare ourselves for this to get worse before it gets better?”

Buttigieg said, “Certainly, a lot of the challenges that we have been experiencing this year will continue into next year. But there are both short-term and long-term steps that we can take to do something about it. Part of what’s happening isn’t just the supply side. It’s the demand side. Demand is off the charts.”

Tapper said, “Many American companies, especially small businesses, as you note, are struggling to cope. One possible solution, President Biden lifting former President Trump’s tariffs on China to try to provide some relief. That’s not a panacea, but it could provide some relief. Will President Biden do that?”

Buttigieg: Supply Chain Problems Exist Because Biden Guided U.S. Out of Recession

Pam Key 17 Oct 2021

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the supply chain backups at America’s ports were a product of President Joe Biden guiding the economy “out of the teeth of a terrifying recession,” which caused incomes and demand to rise.

Demand is off the charts. Retail sales are through the roof. If you think about those images of ships, for example, waiting at anchor on the west coast, every one of those ships is full of record amounts of goods that Americans are buying, because demand is up, because income is up, because the president has successfully guided this economy out of the teeth of a terrifying recession. Now the issue is, even though our ports are handling more than they ever have, record amounts of goods coming through, our supply chains can’t keep up. Of course, our supply chains – that’s a complicated system that is mostly in private hands and rightly so. Our role is to be an honest broker, bring together all of the players, secure commitments, and get solutions that will make it easier.”

An Army "intelligence" officer, that takes close to 2 months of "paternity" leave, elected Mayor of some backwater town in the midwest is somehow the best person suited to deal with a growing National economic crisis.  Who'da thunk it?
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

My advice: more time working on a solution to the problem, less time chest-feeding, Pete.

It is frightening to see this degree of idiocy on display by a cabinet secretary.  You just dumped a couple of trillion dollars of newly printed money into the US economy, yet you wonder why demand went up?  Seriously?

Ya gotta just love the lie that somehow Traitor Joe brought us out of a recession. The truth is Traitor Joe and the DCP are plunging us into a depression.

they call it gaslighting now. It’s all these clowns do. And it appears the more lying they do the more likely people will buy their lies.

There are a lot of truck drivers out there who are refusing deliveries in large cities because of last year's riots.  With a shortage of drivers caused by the lockdowns and the generous subsidies paid out for not working, not to mention the sharp rise in diesel prices, truck drivers can stay busy with industrial work without having to rely on delivering consumer goods.  I am not seeing any backlog at chemical plants waiting for trucks to pick up product.  Those are still coming as scheduled.

Cheap forced lower rates for truckdrivers have forced many out to truckdriving, and truckdrivers fathers being forced to hate their jobs does not get them to encourage their sons and daughters to follow in their vocation.  Plenty of truckdrivers will haul freight, make them a serious offer, and you will be drowning in truckdrivers.  I was one for about 17 years.  This is just more contrived/invented crises es.
