Supreme Court Green-Lights Six-Week Abortion Ban
September 1, 2021 By Tristan Justice

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled early Wednesday to allow a Texas state law to take effect that opens the door for private citizens to sue abortion providers who perform the deadly operation after six weeks of pregnancy.

The high court’s ruling came in the form of a denial to consider an emergency petition filed by Texas abortion facilities to challenge the law, which had been set to go into effect in September. This also occurs as the justices prepare to hear a direct challenge to the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision later this year.

The Texas law, signed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in May, gives citizens authority to file civil suits against those who carry out abortions after six weeks, with those found guilty forced to pay $10,000 to the plaintiff. According to NBC News, abortion facilities in Texas had already begun turning away pregnant women for September appointments as they prepared for the new law to take effect.

While you were sleeping, in the dead of night, the rightwing extremist Supreme Court took a hacksaw to Roe v. Wade and overruled nearly 50 years of legal protections for women.

"gives citizens authority to file civil suits against those who carry out abortions after six weeks, with those found guilty forced to pay $10,000 to the plaintiff."... could this legal logic be twisted around to go after fire arms dealers or manufactures?

The law allows private citizens to sue abortion providers and anyone else who helps a woman obtain an abortion — including those who give a woman a ride to a clinic or provide financial assistance to obtain an abortion. Private citizens who bring these suits don't need to show any connection to those they are suing.

The law makes no exceptions for cases involving rape or incest.

Here's why the law is one of the strictest abortion bans in the country.

What does the Texas law prohibit?
It bans abortion as soon as cardiac activity is detectable. That's around six weeks, which is before a lot of people know that they're pregnant. Other states have tried to do this, but those laws have been challenged by abortion-rights groups and blocked by federal courts again and again.

How is this law different from other states' efforts?
Groups who oppose abortion rights have pushed for this Texas law, hoping that it will be harder for federal courts to knock it down. Instead of requiring public officials to enforce the law, this law allows individuals to bring civil lawsuits against abortion providers or anyone else found to "aid or abet" illegal abortions.

Anything that makes the pro-aborts scream and wail is OK with me.  Regardless of what Harry Blackmun wrote in Roe, there is no right to abortion.

Having said that, the logic on this approach escapes me.  I don't know of any other act for which non-involved observers can file civil suit, and it could lead to exactly the kind of application you describe here @rustynail.

In this day and age HARDLY anyone should have an unwanted pregnancy.  All the B.C. available.  Even for men. Wear that glove!
Do I have to make a list of items to use?

Psaki is out to lunch.  To get pregnant, you have to mate with someone.  Somebody needs to explain that to her before menopause.

Please don't.  We don't really want Psaki breeding, do we?

Anybody want to know the REAL reason the dims are going ballistic over this?

Well I'm gonna tell you anyway!

Planned Parenthood is one of their chief conduits for funneling public money into democrat campaign coffers.

Now you know the truth of the matter.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Will talks about this.  She NEVER addressed the issue of biden being Catholic.  Catholics don't believe in abortions.
