With Joe in charge this is absolutely concerning.

China expands influence as it warns nations of ‘broken heads’ if they intervene

The Chinese communist regime is moving aggressively to expand its influence abroad, while issuing unveiled threats to other countries that might think of trying to stop it – as the U.S. is trying to rally allies to push back against the regime's expansionist efforts.

"The Chinese people will absolutely not allow any foreign force to bully, oppress or enslave us and anyone who attempts to do so will face broken heads and bloodshed in front of the iron Great Wall of the 1.4 billion Chinese people," President Xi Jinping said this week as he marked the 100 year anniversary of the party’s founding.

CHINA'S XI WARNS TAIWAN ON INDEPENDENCE, SENDS MESSAGE TO WEST

Xi has overseen a regime that has cemented power at home and has been cracking down on dissent and other groups that the regime sees as undesirable, while pushing its influence abroad.

China has been accused of engaging in systematic human rights abuses, including forced sterilizations and forced labor in "re-education camps", of Uighur Muslims in the Xinjiang province. The human rights abuses have provoked international outcry and sanctions on officials by the U.S. government.

"The United States and our G7 partners remain deeply concerned by the use of all forms of forced labor in global supply chains, including state-sponsored forced labor of vulnerable groups and minorities and supply chains of the agricultural, solar, and garment sectors — the main supply chains of concern in Xinjiang," a G-7 statement said last month.........

Corrupt politicans, MSM, and big Tech all sweep this under the rug, as our biggest threat since World War II looms in the Far East.

The Chicoms are our dire enemies.  Thinking otherwise is foolish.

A respectful yet total demurral.
China is a mortal threat to one and only entity; its own people.
It has been the fat boy of Asia for 4,000 years and achieved
absolutely nothing of consequence, as size ain't no achievement.
The world powers of history came from Europe then North America.
The Asian power over the past 200 years has been Japan, some 5%
of the land mass of China and who kicked the latter's ass repeatedly
during that time period. But why???
Because Japan westernized their attitudes & behavior since Commodore
Perry appeared in Tokyo Bay offering our friendship some 175 years past.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
China is a real threat now, only because of sheer numbers.

And the USA policy toward China is foolish.  We should put a plan in place to end reliance on them to buy USA bonds, etc.  I would limit trade with them, end education in the USA of their students.  Their students come and steal everything they can get their hands on.  Enough already.

The big problem I have with that is Nations usually turn to external conquest and empire-building when things start getting bad at home, as a means of taking the political heat off themselves.  Did this not weaken Rome in the long run?

As a student of history, you seem to forget that in the 1200's the Mongols accumulated one of the largest empires on earth, even larger than the Roman Empire in Square Mileage.  They did this despite meeting many enemies with more technologically advanced weaponry, and less smarts in military strategic accumen.    Never underestimate the power of a hoard.

this is not your grandad’s, or ggggg grandad’s, China anymore. They have been developing the capability to project military power and have made no secret of their imperialist aims. They are all over Africa & have been challenging western influence in the Caribbean, South America, the southwest pacific, the Middle East.

In short today’s Chicoms have very little in common with historic China or even the communists of 40 years ago.

Not to mention they have become absolute masters of technology theft.  I bet 75% of their R & D budget is re-engineering everyone else's stuff

Without Trump having his finger on them and Joe reversing course, you are right, China is a real threat.

----------------------------------
Your query is both sound and valid, as conquest was a double edged sword for Rome.
In Caesars's time, Europe was essentially Tribal, excepting Greece and Rome.
The most aggressive of these, were the Gauls & Saxons, who crept ever closer to Rome
disrupting trade, a vital source of wealth for the Republic, prompting Caesar's Wars.
Yet there also were Romans who promoted conquest to elevate themselves and fatten
their wallets. Sound familiar?
As time, and Caesar passed, the quality of Roman leadership decayed (as Gibbon noted)
and the result was inevitable.
So, did adventurism weaken Rome over centuries? The truthful answer is yes.

Fair enough, yet for me smarts trumps size, as Alexander, outnumbered
by some 4 to 1 at Gaugamela/Arbela in 330 BC proved.
When the Battle was over, the Persian Horde had been annhialated,
Darius and his Court left hanging from trees and the Persian Empire destroyed.
So much for size.
History records the achievements of Greece and Alexander.
What are the achievements of the Mongols???

Sounds like the Visagoths.  Sorry, I am not learned in Ancient History because i think it's as valuable as Greek Mythology.  I leave that to the Great Big Giant Brains of the Left.

Chinese state media publishes 'three-stage' plan for invading neighboring Taiwan
The Chinese state-controlled magazine "Naval and Merchant Ships" published an article detailing a three-stage plan to invade Taiwan.

The Chinese state-controlled magazine "Naval and Merchant Ships" published an article detailing a three-stage plan to invade Taiwan, involving ballistic missiles, fighter jet attacks, and amphibious landings on Taiwan's beaches.

Tensions continue to flare in the region, as Chinese fighters have been breaching Taiwanese airspace almost daily for months now.

The US and Japan have been reportedly holding joint military exercises, and the magazine article is believed to possibly have been a subtle way of responding on China's part, according to The US Sun.  ...
