Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 will be a sold-out event as in-person sports attendance returns, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced.
The speedway reached its 40% capacity and will welcome 135,000 spectators for the race’s 105th running. Visitors, including those who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, will be required to wear masks and socially distance in cooperation with local health rules, according to the race’s website.
“We’ve hit our capacity for this year’s Indianapolis 500 and look forward to hosting 135,000 fans at the world’s largest sporting event since the pandemic began,” the speedway said Thursday. “We’re thrilled to welcome fans ‘Back Home Again’ and appreciate our loyal customers and their continued support.”
