Israel's deadly deception: IDF TRICKED Hamas into believing a ground invasion was underway... then obliterated tunnel network knowing militants would be hiding underground waiting to ambush tanks

There was confusion when the IDF suggested troops were on the ground in Gaza, before retracting the statement and saying that forces attacked Hamas tunnels along the border but did not cross it
Turned out to be a well-planned ploy get Hamas to send its fighters into its underground tunnel system beneath Gaza City, before bombarding the area, in the hope of eliminating large numbers of militants
Still, fears of invasion remain with thousands of troops moving to the border and 9,000 reservists called up
Israel stepped up its attacks on Gaza overnight with more than 1,000 bombs and shells pounding northern and eastern areas in the heaviest attacks of the conflict so far
Meanwhile Hamas has continued firing hundreds of rockets at Israel from Gaza and was joined overnight by three rockets fired from Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon, though all of them fell short
More street clashes took place in Israeli-Arab city of Lod, with fighting reported in Jaffa and Umm al-Fahm
Fighting continued this morning as IDF jets struck what they called underground rocket sites and observation posts around Gaza, with Hamas suicide drones sent the other way

That is not fair. Tricking those poor Hama muzzies into going underground and then going all Carl Spackler on their furry tunnel digging asses!

That said, vividly recall both the '67 and '73 Wars, and how much "surprise" was integral to their success!

It was called "The Six-Day War", because Israel destroyed Egypt, Jordan and Syria's air-force caught on the ground.

I'm still betting Israel will close the loop, and retake Gaza.  Turning them loose was a Hell of a mistake, the results predictable at the time.

And...are there really innocent civilians in Gaza?  They repeatedly elected Hamas to lead them since the very first vote.  The vote was vastly pro-Hamas.

And THAT was the result of superior military intelligence.  I guess they knew when the Call to Prayer (or lunch) was.  Yes, the Arab air forces where wiped out in the first hour of the conflict, achieving instant Israeli air superiority.

Israel must never expect to get that lucky again.  They may not have to if the unlikely allies they made in the Arab countries hold.  Here is something we can thank Iran for...driving these countries into the arms of Israel.

Did Israel deke Hamas with "ground incursion" deception?

https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2021/05/14/did-israel-deke-hamas-with-ground-incursion-deception-n389930

Quote
According to the Jerusalem Post, yes — with the cooperation of global media. Late yesterday, the Israeli Defense Force tweeted out that “air and ground troops are currently attacking in the Gaza Strip.” Foreign media bit at the tweet and reported widely that Israel had invaded Gaza, calling it a “major escalation.”

However, ground troops hadn’t entered Gaza. The IDF needed Hamas to think they had, and Hamas played right into the trap, the JP reports (via Ben Shapiro):

Quote
Websites of media outlets around the world, including the Washington Post and ABC, reported the incursion. “Israeli troops have entered the Gaza Strip as conflict with Palestinians escalates, Israeli military says,” was the tweet put out by the Washington Post.

The problem was that there was no ground invasion. Yes, the IDF had deployed troops along the border but they did not cross into Gaza. What did happen was in the air where 160 aircraft had assembled for a massive bombing run over the Gaza Strip. Their target was what the IDF called Hamas’s “Metro”, an underground network of tunnels where Hamas stored its weapons and used to move throughout Gaza hidden from Israeli aircraft. …

According to reports, due to the deployment along the border and the news coming out in the foreign media of a ground incursion, Hamas and Islamic Jihad sent their first-line of defense into the tunnels to start taking up positions. These were the anti-tank missile teams and mortar squads meant to strike at incoming Israeli ground forces.

What they did not know was that there was no ground offensive. Instead, once they were out of the tunnels, they were exposed to Israeli aircraft. ...

It’s a smart ploy, one that leverages foreign-media credulity and sympathies toward the Palestinians. If this turns out to be true, one can only imagine the chagrin among the editorial class of those who got suckered into playing the IDF’s game. ...

Kudos to the IDF for gaming the world MSM's anti-Semitism!
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

The Gaza Strip was never turned "loose" @Cyber Liberty  Israelis just moved back to Israel and built a wall.

But, Gaza is still under total control -- from where and who can fish (for a living) to when and where they can travel (they can't); the IDF is still border control; everyone has to register with Israel, including phone numbers (this is how those IDF knocks are possible).  Food, clean water, sanitation disposal, electricity, medication, building permits --- are all distributed to Gaza when and as decreed by Israel.

Anyone can root for the total elimination of the people living there, but no one can claim Gaza has been "cut loose".

It used to be very different.

Perhaps my verbiage was a bit off, but the salient point is the river of shit from Gaza will never stop if Israel doesn't put boots on the ground there.  And they had them there before at one point.

Actually, your verbiage was on point @Cyber Liberty   Every self-respecting Republican is rooting for the marching of every Gazan into the sea because ...

Just know before they're erased completely and we all finally have quiet, the people were not animals.  They lived on land handed down to them for more generations than can be counted, they educated their young, lived as family units, and never envisioned what was about to happen to it all .....

Hopefully Israel will be merciful and kill them all quickly.

You're absolutely right, @Cyber Liberty

But back there, in 'REAL TIME', the summary was that "Luck" had nothing to do with it.  Israel's military was just straight-up badass.

And then they proved it again in 1973.

True it wasn't technically lucky, but they won't get away with it now.  The only way it could really be a matter of luck is that it was fortunate the Arabs didn't have a clue about modern war tactics (IOW, "Dumb Luck" on the part of the Arabs).  Thanks to the Democrat Presidents since, the Arabs and Persians are all trained up to snuff now.

450 bombs in 35 minutes: This is how the IDF tricked Hamas

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/306223

Quote
Just after midnight on Friday morning, Israel announced that "air and ground forces from the IDF are now attacking in Gaza. More details to follow."

... the unclear notice led foreign reporters to report the beginning of a ground operation in Gaza.

Now it has been clarified that the unclear announcement was a planned trick by the IDF to eliminate a large number of Hamas terrorists within a short time.
...
On Thursday night, the IDF brought in 160 aircraft and dropped 450 bombs containing over 80 tons of explosives, hitting 150 terror targets in 35 minutes. Hamas' underground city was hit with enormous force, and the IDF collapsed the terror tunnel system, on the heads of the terrorists hiding in the tunnels.

... many kilometres of terror tunnels were destroyed. As of now, neither Israel nor Hamas is clear on the exact scope of the damage, but according to estimates, a large number of terrorists were buried in the sands beneath Gaza.
