California's tiered system for COVID-19 vaccine distribution will no longer be necessary, and all Californians will be eligible for vaccinations within the next few weeks, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday. As coronavirus vaccine supplies are more abundant, the shot will be easier to distribute, Newsom said."We’re anticipating within 5 1/2 weeks we can eliminate all of the tiering, so to speak, and make available vaccines to everybody across the spectrum because supply will exponentially increase," he said at a press conference in the San Francisco Bay area.

According to the CDC, https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations , last updated 3/21, California has received 18.876 million doses of vaccine, and done 14.708 million injections. IOW, there are 4 million doses of vaccine sitting in storage. Among the US states, CA has been at or below average for usage as a percentage of doses delivered. California does not have a vaccine shortage, it has an F'ed up distribution and vaccination program.
