House Passes Democrat Bill Criminalizing Private Gun Sales

AWR Hawkins 11 Mar 2021

The U.S. House of Representatives passed universal background check gun control Thursday, criminalizing private gun sales conducted apart from an FBI background check.

The legislation, H.R. 8, sponsored by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), passed by a vote of 227 to 203.

H.R. 8 would expand retail point-of-sale background checks so as to cover private points-of-sale. This will criminalize an individual who sells a 5-shot revolver to a lifelong neighbor, unless that neighbor first undergoes a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check, conducted by the FBI.

On Wednesday, bill sponsor Thompson claimed, without evidence, his bill is supported by “90 percent of the American [people].”

H.R. 8 was passed by the House in early 2019 as well, but never taken up by the Republican-controlled Senate. Democrat gains in the current Senate suggest the legislation will be discussed this time around.

@mystery-ak

Despite everyone with 2 IQ points to rub together saying this was going to happen since at least the 1960's,there are STILL going to be people shocked by this.

Same here. America is being run by an illegal government now.

It's a Feral (correct spelling) Government running amok and wontonly destroying one right after another.

No one should trust anything from anyone right now in DC.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed universal background check gun control Thursday, criminalizing private gun sales conducted apart from an FBI background check.

What most people don't realize is the universal background check is a national data base of legal gun owners. Confiscation of guns becomes a lot easier when you know who has them.

@bilo

It is also an excellent way to get a BUNCH of LEO's killed.

Not that the left cares about this. They will stand up and cheer because they NEED a "us versus THEM Society" in order to establish the new Global Police State.

Which is why most thinking gun owners will simply ignore this BS.

@Bigun

Maybe those who are able to do so,but in rural areas the local sheriff pretty much already knows who owns guns and who doesn't.

Should be interesting to watch what happens when the Dims order ALL privately held firearms be seized,and the rural sheriff's say "No".

The eight Republicans who voted to tighten background checks on guns

Rep. Vern Buchanan (Fla.)

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.)

Rep. Andrew Garbarino (N.Y.)

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (Fla.)

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.)

Rep. Maria Salazar (Fla.)

Rep. Chris Smith (N.J.)

Rep. Fred Upton (Mich.)

@mystery-ak

Frankly I am more than a little surprised to see the His and Her Panics from Florida sign-on for this nonsense. Most of the people they represent fled from a little island named "Cuba" that had a government VERY similar to what the Dims want to establish here in America,and they know where this leads better than most Americans.

Anyone here from Fla that is familiar with those two creatures that cares to explain this to those of us not in the "know"?

I have no confidence in any part of the fedgov now.  None at all.

@Bigun

I have a great deal of confidence that their ultimate goal is to eliminate elections and maintain their seats for life. They want to rule,not lead.

There is no "buyers remorse" and never will be.  The leftists have too much emotional investment in Biteme & company.
@Cyber Liberty

This bill is about "sales" of weapons, not about "handing down" weapons to family members.  That will be next.

I can imagine an awful lot of gun owners are going to lose their weapons on one side of a tree and find a pile of cash they won't report on the other side.

"Officer, my gun was lost over the side when I went fishing," or "I dropped my glock when I was hunting in the woods and chasing a deer.   I have to report it missing."

But they never mention the friend that "found" it...

@Sled Dog

Which might even make the left happier than if you had turned them in because this way they not only get to "justify" gun confiscation in the minds of the typical big-city denizen that knows nothing personally about the gun issue because he or she has never even held a real gun or knows anybody who has that isn't a cop.

That gives them the justification they need to make gun confiscation look like a honorable and rational thing because it would protect the public from wild-eyed law-breaking radicals who seek to overthrow the government."

Either way,it's win/win for them.

Unless of course we hang them for treason.

I'm surprised the US congress hasn't yet passed a bill forcing gun shops to turn over their 4473 record of purchase forms to the BATF.

The only good thing about that is those records are manually, not digitally, kept.

The buyers remorse isn't so much of the perpetrators, as they got what they wanted and more.  The buyers remorse is more of those that were convinced to believe the lies, went along with them, and discovered what a terrible mistake that was after a little time went by.  It appears it will take a miracle to convince people to stop denying the truth and quit believing liars and lies.  Repentance later just isn't making a difference, more like adds fuel to the fire in these days.

Maybe confiscation or possibly some sort of annual tax on guns that you can't avoid because they have your name.

Yep, I read that part. and with the family tree on one side of my extended family that pretty much means I could open a gun shop in a nearby town and not have form one filled out. Between step, grand, great grand, and other relations, the 'tree' looks like a briar patch on that side of the family. Still, all that need happen is an amendment or rider to some omnibus budget bill that strikes Section 2, Paragraph 1 B, and that is done, too. In principle this is a dangerous infringement and it will never affect the illicit sales of stolen firearms for criminal purposes. Those folks do their own 'background checks', making sure someone isn't a LEO or Ci.

I really enjoyed how you said it was the correct spelling then implied the gun registration process was inspired by the Chinese.

That was a really nice touch.

Get ready for a cold hard brutal slap in the face.  A neighbor or friend talks you into selling your firearm, then promptly turns you in for a felony conviction.  Some will even secretly record the transaction with mini-cameras.  Many will be shocked that a friend of many years would do such a thing.  Burn baby burn!  ITS COMING!
