As inappropriate as Officer Chauvin's actions looked, the evidence indicates that Chauvin's actions were irrelevant to Floyd's death (yeah, I was wrong). A jury cannot convict of murder, based on that evidence.
Like many other people I thought the original picture looked very bad for the cop. I'm still not sure Chauvin doesn't bear some responsibility for Floyd's death.
But nobody who has seen the whole video and read about Floyd's health and criminal history can judge Chauvin guilty until all the facts are laid out in court.
I still read columns written by supposedly conservative scribblers who describe Floyd's death as murder or that he was killed by the police.
I can't believe they haven't seen the video and read about Floyd's history.
How is Chauvin supposed to get a fair trial with that kind of coverage even by supposedly pro-police media members?
When I first heard about O.J Simpson and the death of his wife, I didn't want to believe he did it. But after all the facts came out, I had little doubt that he did do it.
But I didn't judge Simpson guilty until I heard the entire story.
I wish everybody else could do the same, but in the country we live in now, that wish might be impossible.
